Ian Killen: Community (Assemblages, Collages & Prints)
8 November – 28 November 2007

Artlink proudly presents Ian Killen: Community, a vibrant and lively exhibition of assemblages, collages and prints. The artwork on display is the result of a variety of community projects undertaken by Ian Killen, Arts Development Worker at Artlink.

The show features works that were created during a 29-month long project on the theme of ‘Heritage’, initiated by Artlink with support from The Heritage Lottery Fund and Awards for All. This project set out to explore and celebrate East Hull and what its history, geography and people mean to the residents of Greatfield Estate and the surrounding areas.

Also on display are collaborative artworks made by pupils, staff and parents at Craven Primary School, in partnership with Hull College. These works formed part of the Wilberforce 2007 Celebrations, a project that links Craven Primary School in East Hull with Stella Maris Primary School in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

In addition to the community artwork produced in Hull, works created in Sierra Leone, West Africa are on show in this exhibition. Cased artworks have been made by students at Stella Maris Primary School during a residency that Ian Killen undertook, in affiliation with Hull College and the BBC.
