Taking inspiration from the old saying of to ‘Make Do and Mend', this women's work exhibition showcases an intriguing selection of artwork by nine female artists that explores both the material and literal value of this ethos.

Artlink is proud to present its tenth annual Women's Work exhibition, held in celebration of International Women's Day on March 8th.  The title for this year's show is taken from the messages given to the public in the 1940's during wartime Britain. This ethos is still very appropriate today - not least in view of the current economic and environmental situations we are facing.

The artwork on display responds to the themes surrounding the idea of to ‘make do and mend' on both a visual level and in the meanings behind the work. Many of the artists have adopted a ‘waste not want not' philosophy by salvaging discarded, unwanted items and turning them into something beautiful, imaginative and new. While other artists have taken some of the values and principles evoked with being resourceful and instilled them within their creative process.
