Exhibition runs from 05/07/08 until 04/08/08
Gallery Open: Monday to Saturday 10am - 4pm

An exhibition at the Artlink Gallery featuring a fun collection of inventive and imaginative piggy banks made by children from local schools.

The Piggy Bank Project

What captures the imagination of children and adults alike? Piggy Banks! Adorable, iconic and an excellent way to motivate children to save their money.

The Piggy Bank Project has two components. The first part being a school visit from a member of banking staff from Lloyds TSB to speak to the students about personal finance. What will they do with the money they are saving? Does some go into a bank account, they will spend some, they might donate some, or even invest some (children will be taught about very basic principals of interest).

The Piggy Bank Project

The second part of the project is hands on and the children created their own piggy banks using paper mache, balloons and egg cartons. The pigs were then decorated based on a theme chosen by each class teacher. The pigs were then judged at each school in consultation with the teacher and the top pigs from each class have been put on display in the Artlink Gallery. This project also fits with the 'Every Child Matters' aim of achieving economic well-being for every student.
